CAPS Aviation is proud to announce a special partnership with The Ninety-Nines, an international organization of licensed women pilots from around the world. Through this partnership, CAPS Aviation will be offering free training to any member of the Ninety-Nines, who describe themselves as “professional pilots for airlines, industry and government; we are pilots who teach and pilots who fly for pleasure; we are pilots who are technicians and mechanics. But first and foremost, we are women who love to fly!”

“Being a woman in aviation is clearly near and dear to my heart,” said Jennifer Gamon, owner of CAPS Aviation. “My father was a pilot, and instilled in me a great sense of respect and admiration for everyone in this industry, but especially the women. It’s been a hard road, and can still be a hard road, but we hope that providing complimentary training such as this, we can help everyone move ahead. Along those same lines, I am working to obtain my own pilots license. I don’t see it as following in my father’s footsteps so much as I see it as walking beside him.”

CAPS Aviation, previously known as Corporate Air Parts, was founded by Gamon’s father, Neil Looy, in 1983. Looy served six years in the United States Air Force as an F4 pilot, then flew DC-10’s for World Airways, before accepting a position with film producer Glen Larson as a movie pilot. In early 2017, Neil passed away and left the company to Gamon, who had been working alongside her father for over 14 years. Since then, Gamon has rapidly expanded CAPS’ already extensive capabilities, and pursued new ways to give back to the aviation community.

“At CAPS, we really believe in being productive members of our community. We are active members of a number of aviation-related organizations, such as the Southern California Aviation Association and the National Business Aviation Association. Given our passion for supporting women, connecting with The Ninety-Nine’s seemed like the perfect partnership,” said Jessica Gonzales, Director of Operations. “We are so excited to launch this program with such a well-respected organization.”

The Ninety-Nines was founded in 1929 by noted aviator Amelia Earhart and 98 other early women pilots (of the only 117 of the day). It is from this that the organization took it’s name. Since then, thousands of women pilots from over 40 countries have joined their ranks. The organization promotes advancement of aviation through education, scholarships, and mutual support, all while honoring the unique history of women in aviation, and sharing their passIon for flight.

CAPS Aviation offers a variety of training courses, including AHA Heartsaver First Aid, CPR & AED, FAR 135.331 Crewmember Emergency Training and Cabin Flight Services. For more information about CAPS Aviation or these courses, please visit capsaviation.com.
